Ref your piece about The Upset, here: http://www.dexys.org/upset.html, I played organ (averagely) with The Upset for a few
months in 1980. We stood in for Duran Duran at a gig somewhere in Birmingham, supporting Bow Wow Wow and QTips. We also
played at the Rock garden, The LSE and some Universities as I recall. There was a record deal, some great demo's, but no
record. Tracks included: Touching You; Won't Let you Walk Away; Infatuation Only. I still have a tape. I'm not in touch

The thing I miss most about not having the old "Dexys Midnight Runners Group" message boards is being able to post about random
Dexys-related incidents to others who appreciate the unlikeliness of the things which sometimes happen in life!
A couple of months ago when I was going through a particularly hard time in my life I followed a strange impulse and went
into a random pub I hadn't visited for a long time. Something felt right about being there and it became something of a refuge
while I got myself together again.
A couple of nights before I went to watch the Dexys film I returned to this same bar and was gob-smacked to realise that "She
Got A Wiggle" was playing in the background on the play-list (which apparently they get sent by the company which owns the
pub). Tonight I went there again after a particularly tough day at work, in hope of finding some sort of solace and, to my
amazement, heard the single version of "Plan B" playing a few moments after I got there!
A) I want to thank the person who puts their play-lists together for two of the unlikeliest moments I've had in the last few
weeks.
B) None of the people I talk to on a daily basis would have any idea of how unlikely my experiences felt.
C) ...I need to do something about that!

Dexys Nowhere Is Home at Vue Cinema
Although most people remember Dexy’s for their no 1 global hits ‘Come on Eileen’ and ‘Geno’, their real fans would prefer
to listen to some of the lesser known, more soulful pop records from their extensive back catalogue.
Nowhere is Home was filmed on the final nights of the band’s triumphant residency at London’s Duke of York Theatre last spring,
and captures the visually stunning theatrics, and of course, the songs. Kevin Rowland and Jim Paterson also share a truly
honest account of the band’s rise to success, along with the many downsides and struggles encountered.
The film is set to be screened exclusively at 37 Vue cinemas across the country including Newcastle Under Lyme on Monday 21st

Hello...and welcome! For me, one of the saddest aspects of the sudden disappearance of the "MSN Dexys Web-Group" from the
pages at multiply.com has been losing the opportunity for fellow-fans to get in touch and share their Dexys news and views
with the rest of our small - but perfectly formed - community which had built up over the years. To be honest, I had become
a pretty infrequent visitor to that site and my inclination to post messages had become almost non-existent by the end. It
didn't help that my 'day job' was taking up almost every waking hour - or that I was without a P.C. for almost a year! But,
having said that, I do have fond memories of those I corresponded with (and met) through earlier versions of this website
and the generosity of so many people in helping to make those sites "precious". So much hard work just disappeared. As I've
explained on the "Still Searching" page (http://www.dexys.org/stillsearching.html), there is a lot of work left to do in rebuilding
all of the lost content from these sites, but I'm having an enormous amount of fun with this project and will keep on keeping
on until it's complete! It would be great to hear from any of the old web-group members and to know how you're doing these
days (and what you thought of the new Dexys album)... and it would be equally great to hear from any new fans who've just
stumbled upon this site! ...Best wishes, John |
